    Hi,

We are about to start developing a website and not having used WordPress before wondered if the system will suite our requirements:

    Client/Administrator can:
    1) Post/edit/delete blog articles
    2) Update gallery with comments
    3) Add/edit glossary contents
    4) Update the biography page
    5) Post/edit/delete articles in the professional section blog

    Users can:
    1) Leave feedback via contact form
    2) Sign up for newsletter

We think that Glossary section could be just blog entries but styled differently from the rest of the website.

We would have used Expression Engine, as you can have blogs with Custom Fields (for example glossary), different templates for different blogs, multiple blogs.

I would really appreciate any comments.

    Thank you.

I would have to say yes to all your questions.

Thank you for your reply! But I feel I must ask a bit more ??

Can the system handle the following:

Glossary page – The only data needed to be input by the client is “Word” (or a title) and “Description”. I understand that there must be some kind of “url” field (sorry, haven’t used WordPress before).

On the live site the glossary page is displayed in the following way:
List of all “Words” with an anchor link which will scroll the page to the term description.

I can see this being done quite easily with Expression Engine. What about WordPress? Can I have multiple blogs with completely different content layout? Can I have simplified form to update the glossary page?

I just want to make sure that I am not faced with issues that will restrict me from meeting the requirements.

I opened the new thread only because I thought that this was a wrong section to post that kind of question in. Why not just close this thread which is dead? It’s not like I posted a picture of a naked 12 year old.

I was looking forward to using the system… Thank you for the lovely support…

These are the rules – even for you.
    No duplicate posts.
We move a topic, if we see it necessary.
A topic is not dead until it is closed.

As for your questions: a definite NO for multiple blogs. WP doesn’t have multiple blogs feature. Unless you want to use the MU (multi user) version – https://mu.www.remarpro.com

Out of the box, newsletter, gallery and glossary is not in WP; you would need specific plugins for that.

    Thank you Moshu!!!

It’s just that we are looking to make the decision asap and getting replies about duplicate posts instead of actually addressing the question, which should be straight forward for any regular WP user and especially Moderators, is a little annoying. I wasn’t suggesting that I was special or something and I understand that there are rules.

Anyway, I got all the answers I was looking.

    Thank you for your time!

Why don’t you head over to wordpress.com and open a free account and look at what it can do out of the box? Then you can decide if it’s a platform that would be right for your and your client.

Just a heads up: WordPress MU is very very awesome, though it runs similar to the regular WordPress it is a different beast all together. Since you’re not familiar with WP to begin with this may not be a problem.

Overall, WordPress will suite any need you have, with a little tweaking. Since there are a slew of wonderful plugins and such, as well as books and communities to get ideas and help, there really is no limit to what WordPress can do. Only your imagination.
