Will we lose star ratings with the new plugin switch?

    Hi,

    Thank you so much for making this plugin, I am a power user and this is one of my favorite plugins.

    I was wondering if de-installing Book Review and installing Book Review Block we will be losing our previous data and ratings?

  • There’s currently no migration path for moving from Book Review to the Book Review Block plugin. It’s something I’ll be looking into, but expect it to be a challenging task.

    To answer your question, Book Review Block does not use the same data as Book Review. So for older book reviews you may want to keep using Book Review, and use Book Review Block for newer reviews.

    Thank you for taking the time and thank you for developing this awesome software Donna!

    I wish I could code and would write the migration myself to support you (but if you put a donate button I’d gladly contribute).

    By deinstalling Book Review the data goes away with the deinstall I suppose?

    The data will actually be preserved if you deactivate or uninstall Book Review.

    Hmm if the data is preserved shouldn’t the old star stay there even after uninstalling Book Review?

    Hello,

    I wanted to let you know that you can now migrate data from the old Book Review plugin as of version 1.2.0. Just add a Book Review Block to any post that previously used the Book Review plugin, and the block will be automatically populated with the book data.
