Will updating ancient WP affect Theme?

    You’re using a theme called Balance.

    Looks like that theme last had an update in February this year, so presumably the author is still looking after it and updating it for recent WordPress versions.

    The best person to tell you is the theme’s author and their support forum is at https://ignitethemes.ticksy.com/

    So long as you make a full backup of your website (files, data, uploads etc) first, you should always be safe to upgrade both WordPress and the Balance theme. And for security reasons you always should do upgrades.
