Hi, we have the GA4 tag set in our Google Tag Manager, and this is also where our Cookie Manager with Consent Mode is managed via Cookie Script.

Does the Google Analytics for WooCommerce extension also created the GA4 tag (in which case we’d get duplicate data) or does it only pass the ecommerce data such as add to cart, purchase etc.? Or can it be set to only pass ecommerce data?

At the moment, we see everything working with Consent Mode in place, but we don’t see any ecommerce data being sent to GA4.

I know, it’s not even installed. That’s why I’m asking if it will duplicate the main ga4 tag, or just layer the e-commerce events on top of an existing tag before were do install.

    Hello sdturnbull,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

Could you confirm if you’ve followed the steps outlined here for configuring Google Analytics for WooCommerce: Google Analytics Setup and Configuration?

Additionally, are you using a specific plugin to manage cookies with Consent Mode?
If so, could you share the link to the plugin you’re using?

With this information, I’ll be able to provide more guidance on resolving the missing eCommerce data issue.

Looking forward to your response. ??

    Hi Zubair,

Our GA4 is currently set up via GTM but we haven’t set any triggers/tags for ecommerce yet. We have the standard GA4 tag working from there.

The service we are using for Cookies/Consent Mode is Cookie Script (cookie-script.com) and this is also installed via GTM.

What I am hoping is that by installing Google Analytics for WooCommerce it will send ecommerce data to GA4 but not conflict with the GTM setup? Does that make sense? In particular, we don’t want to inadvertently add another GA4 tag by installing this.

    Hello sdturnbull,

    Thank you for your reply.

Please note that having multiple instances of tracking codes on the same page can lead to issues. Before proceeding, I recommend reviewing your existing setup to ensure there won’t be any overlap in the GA4 tags.

To test your current analytics tracking and confirm that it’s sending the correct data to Google, you can use the Google Tag Assistant tool. This tool will help analyze the tracking code on your page and flag any warnings or errors. For enhanced troubleshooting, you might also want to install the Tag Assistant Companion Chrome extension.

Make sure everything is working as expected before adding additional tracking setups, and let me know if you encounter any issues!

    Best regards.
