    Hi,

I’m building a replacement photographic site in WP with a Cart system, which will be image heavy. I’d like to confirm that this plug-in retains my originals (as I want to send these automatically to a printing lab later) but displays optimised images for speed whether a Desktop or mobile device?

    Many thanks!

    Hello, there,

Yes, this plugin does not touch your original images. It creates resized copies of them in a cache folder.

However, you should make sure of two things:

    a) When you want your users to download the original size of an image, even though they are accessing your website from a mobile device, you have to make sure that this is what they get. From the point of view of the plugin you can force this by adding a ?debug=original to the url of an image.

    b) If you are protecting your original images from being downloaded from users who have not paid for them them, you must make sure that the code which protects your images (be it a plugin or your theme or some other, custom code) works well with the Adaptive Images plugin. I am saying this because both codes will be messing with the delivery of your images and this is a special case. One pretty simple solution for this would be to put these images in a separate folder and exclude them from Adaptive Images altogether.

Let me know if I can help any further!

    Cheers,
    Takis

    Hi Takis,
    Thank you for the info.

    a) I’m not selling digital downloads but working towards having the Cart system send the original file to a printer automatically for printing. Does this url ending still apply?

    b) As above, customers will not be purchasing original images but a printed version.

    c) I need a way to display my images in an appealing way, what AI does (cahed images for viewing), and then when purchased from my Cart, sent to a printing lab. Do you know of a plug-in (or more) that does this?

    I’m using Themify’s Ultra theme.
    Cheers,

    Hello, again,

    a) Yes it still applies for anyone or anything that might request your images. However, I recommend testing it first in order to confirm it in action, just in case.

    b) All good here!

    c) I don’t think I am aware of any such plugin. Perhaps you could setup your eshop to automatically inform a specific email address when an order reaches a specific status. But this is just off the top of my head.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

    Cheers,
    Takis
