This header is added on all Dreampress websites in case a user/customer
is looking in using wp-rocket. This should cause no harm in your site as
well.
Are they correct in saying this? I think you already know about it as they wouldn’t implement this without asking you first.
First, I have to say I did not see their configuration so I have no clue if they altered it or not. They might have adapted it to their requirements or equipment… so it’s hard for me to say. For instance, the configuration adds, by default, some headers to add a caching expiry date. This will not “harm”… but an image that is in the browser’s cache could be use instead of its updated version. That could cause confusion as you did not “set any caching”… but there is because of that. It’s subtle… but should be known.
I won’t give specific advice but I will say this : I personally use a free Cloudflare account (as a CDN for static files) combined with WP Rocket and Rocket-Nginx. From my perspective, it’s most robust, simple and effective way to get things done.
Note: I am really biased. I love WP Rocket and I’m the creater of Rocket-Nginx.
That being said, I run SatelliteWP, a WordPress maintenance service as a WordPress expert. I’m not saying this to brag about it. I’m saying this because I have an expertise that not a lot of people have. All this to say: you should not try to replicate what I do as, maybe, our skillset is different. We also run our own servers… but I’m not advising that you do that, either.
If your web hosting company uses Nginx and Rocket-Nginx…. hummmm… seems like a great reason to buy and install WP Rocket. It will then work at its best without you having to understand/configure advanced tools! With no/little technological knowledge, that is something I would consider.
I hope this helped!
