Hey. My question is in the title and bellow is my “use case” that you don’t have to read.

My clients use Elementor all the time and they are not “techy guys”, they don’t know how flex model works and they don’t actually interested in learning this stuff. I chose Elementor over other builders for one reason – it’s easier to understand for my clients who have no idea what they’re doing. I make a website for them, and then they can edit it with Elementor just fine with low chance of breaking something.

Today I tried container and I don’t like it. It’s weird, it’s like a mix of sections with flexbox features. It have this rudimental “Content Width” option from sections and 10px padding from columns by default. It wants to be flex, but it still behaves like sections in some cases. When you add new container with “+” button, it’s not the same as container widget. Because you can’t drag and drop container inside a container widget. So it’s like there’s 2 types of containers now that behaves differently. Weird.

If I wanted to use containers, I would switch to other builder that does it better, no offence. But I want to keep it simple for my clients. I understand how flexbox works and I can work with containers fine, but if my clients will attempt to add some content, they will 100% break some paddings at best. Since there’s no more division to sections and colums where I could set different default paddings.

So, can you please don’t get rid of sections and columns? Like… never?

  • Hi,

Can you send me your site URL, please?

I am totally In support of this. I wonder what would happen to the many websites that has been created with elementor columns and sections if they are deprecated.
I would prefer if they are columns and sections are always available and we can then choose between them and the new flexbox model

Here’s the reason why I don’t like using gap in page builders at all: https://codepen.io/heavylogic/pen/gOjQVaZ

“box-sizing: border-box” doesn’t affect gap. So I have to white calc equation for width of blocks inside flex element. It’s a normal practice when I create page with pure HTML and CSS. But with builders I’d like to avoid this. Just because I’m not the one who’s gonna use the page. And my clients will probably mess this up in the future.

I chose Elementor because it was easy to use for noobies. And now I have no idea where this project is going. It’s like they want to satisfy everyone – pros and noobs. I don’t have any problems with this as long as we can choose what we want to use – easy mode or pro mode.

There are no plans to deprecate Sections and Columns at this point. You can use them as a default option as long as you keep Flexbox Containers experiment disabled.
