Looks great so far, I’m impressed! Quick question . . . I have the first five reviews displayed. There are 144 total reviews in the Google My Business listing. Should I expect the plugin to ADD an additional 5 existing reviews each day until it finishes? (Forgetting about new reviews for the time being). Or, do I need to use the Advanced technique to paste-in all the reviews now and let the plugin increment from there?

@michaelnorth Thanks for the positive feedback.

Please read the FAQ that covers this most of this question.

In addition to this, the Places API doesn’t provide a sequence of reviews (e.g. 1-5, 6-10, …) or any specific reviews on demand.

I recommend using the HTML Import in the Advanced tab to expedite the population of your back catalogue as it’s unlikely to receive many additions without this intervention.

I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

    Hi there,

very good plugin, thanks for that: Many Options, good-looking, easy to use, updated regularly, active support and free.

My question is very similar and i’m irritated by this line:

“the Places API doesn’t provide a sequence of reviews (e.g. 1-5, 6-10, …) or any specific reviews on demand.”

I chose this plugin, because it has a update function where you can choose the update frequency. This is needed to show the newest reviews only. I have seen websites with such a functionality. Is there any chance that new reviews will be added automatically in the future?

@evom You are correct, the Places API doesn’t supply reviews in this way. The Places API only sends the 5 most relevant reviews each time. If you update hourly, there’s a low chance of any change between the collections because the 5 most relevant reviews are likely to remain the same.

The is how the Places API works at the moment and any changes to its functionality are out of my hands.

However, there are alternatives such as a different API that also supplies review data or by collecting the reviews direct from the search results using the HTML Import. I will be looking to extend this plugin to support the Google My Business API in the future.

If you want all the reviews, please use the HTML Import feature in the Advanced tab. This is a unique feature offered by this plugin.
