Will people receive notification when a new comment is added?

  • Hi! People will only receive notification when they receive a direct reply to their comment right?

    How about when a new comment is added to the post, which doesn’t directly reply to the person? Will the person receive an email notification?

    I prefer to have the option of both, so that they may come back and join the discussion, just like on social media.

    Right, this plugin is only to notify about replies to a comment, not about new comments for a post. However, when people get notified about all new comments to a post, they might want to reply to those comments as well and the whole thing soon starts becoming a kind of online forum. Therefore I am reluctant to add this feature since comments are not intended to be used as a discussion forum. WordPress does not handle large comment sections very well since there is no pagination, no direct messages to other users and only a very simple threading.

    There are also ways to achieve this, like using Disqus for WordPress which includes that any many other features as well.

    wpDiscuz may also be an option for you.

    Yes, but blog posts with a lot of comments rank very well on Google.

    So if you could add that option, the plugin will be perfect.

    This is the only plugin available on wordpress to have this simple notification function.

    Other plugins are too complicated, buggy and bulky to the site. Yours is very lightweight, but effective. I like it!
