• Hi,

Willing to pay for help to get WP back up.

I posted to the blog yesterday and all was fine. But, than I updated the entire site (not the WP blog) and the site was fine but I get this error going to the blog:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/bob711/public_html/brokerforyou/wp-includes/functions-formatting.php on line 90

I also noted a lot of WP files that I never saw before, now in the website root folder.

I have a lot of post on this blog and so do not want to just re-install the WP applictation. I should have backed-up the server WP files, but did not.

Is there anything I can do to restore blog access and the existing posts??

If you did’nt touch the database, you likely didn’t lost any post… The information should still be there.

What version of wordpress do you use ?

    Hi rebroker.

When you said that you “updated the entire site”, what did you do exactly ?

From what I can see, you are hosted with CPanel and you installed WordPress with Fantastico.

*Are you sure your host didn’t make any change on the server, i.e. updtating php or cpanel ? Seems to me that the problem is not wordpress, or at least not worpress alone…

*Do you still have access to the admin panel ? wordpress/wp-admin ?

*Did you use any plugins ?

You probably still have access to your site via FTP and CPanel… So your first step should be to :

    1) Via ftp, backup the content of /wordpress/wp-content/ to save the theme you were using, any uploaded files and possibly some plugins.

    2) Also Via ftp, backup the wordpress/wp-config.php file

    3) In CPanel, go in PHPMyadmin and backup the database you were using for worpress.

You will be sure that you wont lost nothing…

I can explain to you how to re-install wordpress with the same database, but at first, have a talk with your host and tell us about the update you made on the site.

    Hi Simon,

All backups made. The data base shows just 302k for about two years of posts…sound right?

I have a few WP blogs all part of sites created and maintaned with MSFrontpage. The blogs are all set up the same with same custom templet, blog rolls etc.

Until now, I had no problems. The blogs are all on the same server. The current problem is just with this one blog, so the cause must have been my update,

Prior to the update, I did a new blog post and it looked fine. Later that day with MSFrontpage I uploaded a number of changed/new pages to the site. This update seemed to take much longer than usual. After it was done, the site looked fine, but I than noticed the blog problem.

This MSfrontpage update was different also because it included a MSN text robot file, a Google site map file and some pages that were transulated from english to Spanish.

Lastly, when viewing the root file folder, I notced WP files there that I had not notced before the update. I copied all these files to a file on my HD. They are:
    index.php
    links2wp.php
    wp-adam.php
    wp-blog-header.php
    wp-comments-post.php
    wp-commentsrss2.php
    wp-config.php
    wp-config-sample.php
    wp-feed.php
    wp-gallery2.php
    wp-links-opml.php
    wp-login.php
    wp-mail.php
    wp.pass.php
    wp-rdf.php
    wp-register.php
    wp.rss.php
    wp-rss2.php
    wp-settings.php
    wp-subscription-manager.php
    wp-trackback.php
    xmlrpc.php

I think somehow these files came out of their normal folders.

I cannot access the wp admin control panel.

    The site in question is:
    https://www.brokerforyou.com
    The blog url is: https://www.brokerforyou.com/brokerforyou

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

    Bob
