will not take my email address or user ID for wp-admin

  • In WP support I am stevemeyers and it takes my password. in wp-admin. it says my email and user ID are not found. I have no trouble on the back side on Host gator. I am locked out. What can I do? Thanks. PS I can not reset my password because of no email address. It not let me send this form with matching emails above.
    I am at a loss, The back side of Host gator I have no issues with. I had a hard drive melt down and trying to get back running. Screamingfromthegallery.com is my webpage.

  • If you can get into cPanel, you can go onto the db and update your email address there.

    Josh would that give me access to my plugins for wordpress? I thought the front end was different that the back end on Hosting. I maybe wrong been doing this for 22 hours

    Here’s your situation as I understand it:

    Back story: You’re running a WordPress website. It’s hosted by HostGator.

    Problem: You can’t log into WordPress and you can’t reset your password because it can’d find your username or email.

    Am I right so far?

    Can you log into your cPanel?

    If so, log into it.
    Go to phpMyAdmin.
    Select the proper database from the list on the left. It’s probably a list of 1.
    Click “wp_users”.
    Find your account (You may be the only 1) and update your email address.

    I’d fix everything else outside of the database: either via password reset or through your profile once you’re back in the system.
