will not complete setup

    i have installed & activated the updraftplus plugin.

    i have tried multiple times to “complete setup” by pressing the “complete setup” button on the orange screen.

    but each time it goes to a url where there is nothing on the page.

    it says –
    “The button will take you to:”
    & this is the url it goes to

    it also says –
    “Having problems authenticating?”
    when you click on that link it says

    “If you are having problems authenticating because of something on your site (e.g a security module/plugin is breaking the authentication flow), then you can use the button below to manually copy your authentication token to your clipboard. Then, visit the UpdraftPlus settings page, and paste it into the manual authentication input there.”

    but when you go to the “UpdraftPlus settings page, and paste it into the manual authentication input there.”

    there is nowhere to do this, nowhere to paste the code into.

    Hi there,

    Could you please confirm which version of the plugin you are currently using?
    The issue sounds like it could be a plugin or theme conflict, a test may confirm.
    Could you please deactivate other plugins except for UpdraftPlus and try again?

    if i deactivate the plugins i might get a repeat of something very bad that happened previously, so before i do that i have included a list of the plugins installed.

    please can you let me know if you have any ideas as to what may be causing the conflict.

    Hi there,

    It’s very difficult for me to specify which plugin could be causing a conflict with UpdraftPlus.
    Normally it’s a process of elimination, starting with deactivating all other plugins for a while.

    If a problem is solved when all plugins are deactivated you then activate plugins one by one.
    As you reactivate these plugins you monitor for which of them causes the conflict to reoccur.

    Deactivating a plugin or plugins really shouldn’t cause an issue unless something is wrong.
    If an installation is that unstable or a plugin causes crashes it does indicate a wider problem.

    PS. You could consider security plugins like WordFence first, but a full conflict test is the best.

    i tried all of them one at a time.

    deactivated the plugin, tried to complete the setup, then reactivated the plugin & tried the next plugin.

    i tried all of them individually & could not get it to work.

    It looks like UpdraftPlus isn’t completing the authentication process properly. Here are a few things you can try to fix it:

    Clear Cache & Disable Security Plugins – Some caching or security plugins might interfere with authentication. Try disabling them temporarily and attempt the setup again.

    Manually Authenticate – Since the automatic method isn’t working, you can try copying the authentication token manually. If the settings page doesn’t show a place to paste it, check under UpdraftPlus Settings → Remote Storage and look for a field related to Google Drive authentication.

    Try a Different Browser or Incognito Mode – Sometimes browser extensions or cookies can cause issues. Open an incognito/private window and retry the setup.

    Check UpdraftPlus Logs – Go to UpdraftPlus → Settings → Show Raw Log and look for any error messages that might explain what’s going wrong.

    Reinstall the Plugin – If nothing else works, try deactivating, deleting, and reinstalling UpdraftPlus to see if it resets the setup process.
