I have a firewall for sitelock, cloudflare, and shield. Do I need to turn one of them off? Another interesting thing, they all have some sort of malwayre scan and so does my backup plugin.

I know when it comes to having computers, having multiple of these is a bad idea, but I’m assuming in the web site world it is actually a okay thing?

It’s generally ok, but also generally unnecessary. Your site may load a bit slower than it could as traffic will need to make it through three whole firewalls before hitting your server.

Okay cool, but what about all the malwayre scanners?

Similarly unnecessary. You wouldn’t run three anti-virus systems on your computer because it would probably slow your computer down to unworkable levels. You’ll notice a similar effect on your server, or at least your hosting provider will and they might not be too happy about it. ??

    instaracofechat,

We don’t suggest stacking CDN services, and will even stop the initial setup process for customers if we detect another CDN service is in use to avoid conflicts. Stacking CDN services negates many of the performance benefits offered, and under specific circumstances there may also be conflicts between cloud-based WAFs.

In terms of malware scanning, CloudFlare does not presently offer malware scanning as a service. When you’re mentioning “Shield” it make me think you may be referring to the “TrueShield” Web Application Firewall, which is actually a SiteLock product that is designed to work perfectly alongside the SiteLock malware scanner.

    I hope this helps.

Thx everyone, question fully answered! Looks like websites do work similarly to computers then when it comes to security.
