Good morning, will the plugin detect a link such as:

    • it is, for example, to a website that no longer works – they enter, for example, an imaginary website lknlsdnsjfsklfnksjdnkjf.com and it does not detect this link as invalid – even though the website this line is for does not exist.
    • And what if someone has a 404 error or redirection on a given website?

    Hi @danishsard

I hope you are doing well today.

I have made some test in that matter and I have mixed results. I pinged our BLC Team to review my test and your query and we will post an update here as soon as more information is available.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hello @danishsard,

Please take our apologies for the delayed reply.

In general, the plugin will be displaying error messages/codes, depending on the obtained response.

For example, with the Local (old) version of the scan engine, 404 pages should be listed in the Broken section. When a redirect is detected, it should be listed on the Redirects tab.

In case the domain name is not correct (doesn’t exist), you’ll see “Server Not Found” message on the Broken tab:
    https://prnt.sc/HM0wWfv5KKc5

The new Cloud version will show a different message in this case:
    https://prnt.sc/48X74a_ZI5wC

In the Cloud version, the scan will follow up to 3 redirects. If a link has more than 3 redirects, it will return an error.

Here you can find more info on the status codes:
    https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/broken-link-checker/#broken-link-status-codes

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,
    Dmytro
