Will installation overwrite existing Database

    Hello,

    Apologies if this is a daft question, but I have limited understanding of databases, PHP and mySQL.

    I have an existing database on a website supplied by the hosting company. It contains tables that are used for email campaigns and customer details; I don’t have rights to create a new database using myPHPadmin.

    I am hoping to install WordPress in a sub directory on the site for a blog.

    However on the installation wizard I need to enter the (existing) database details. When I run the install will this overwrite the content of the current database, or will it just add new tables to the database?

    I’ve looked around for the answer to this, but the replies I’ve found only seem to cover new and existing WordPress databases.

    Hope I’ve explained everything clearly enough and thanks in advance.

    It will just add new tables.
