I am creating a site for someone with a long-running podcast on Podbean. She wants to continue hosting it on Podbean (and using its feed for iTunes) but also have the podcasts on her new website. I imported the episodes successfully with Powerpress, but it is unclear to me what happens when she adds new podcasts to PodBean. Will new posts be created automatically on her WordPress site, or will she need to create a new post every time?

The import function in PowerPress is meant as a one-and-done operation for migrating an exiting podcast to a WordPress installation. It’s not a continuoually-running operation, and it’s generally not recommended to import from the same feed on an ongoing basis after the initial import is complete.

    Hello @websydaisy,

To add to what Shawn said, you may cause web SEO harm by having duplicate information on two different websites.

Though Shawns warning is correct, you can go back and re-import the feed repeatedly, it will import new episodes as it seems them in the feed, but it is not an automated importing process because importing can require additional feedback in some cases. Also more importantly, any post that you import, do not modify the titles, guid or web friendly slug names for them; doing so may cause the import tool to re-import an episode that was previously imported. This is why we “generally not recommended to import from the same feed on an ongoing basis” as Shawn said. If you import but then never touch the posts, you should be able to re-import without issues.

There should be a way at PodBean to upload the file and make it public without creating web pages on their servers. Then you could use PowerPress to write your show notes and syndicate your podcast only from your WordPress site to prevent the duplicate postings which can be harmful for SEO. On the opposite token you want this ultimately so your website is where Google finds your podcast rather than on PodBean’s website. Currently your podcast is giving your PodBean website traffic instead of your website which is a missed opportunity, especially now that Google search has podcasts integrated into the results.

Blubrry podcasting integrates within PowerPress so you do not have duplicate content posted on different sites from the start. You would create a blog post (similar to what you do with PodBean today), upload to Blubrry then click publish all from within your WordPress site. Also Blubrry services comes with free support, not only do you get support like you are now on the forums, but you can also email, call our support staff, or schedule a video conference call.

    Thanks,
    Angelo
