Will I lose posts and widgets when I change the theme/layout of my blog?
-
I’m currently using the “Comment Central” theme on my blog and have been using this since I first setup my blog back in June. It’s not doing it for me so I’d like to change the background to a magazine style format but I first have some concerns and questions.
I’m a little nervous that when I make this change that everything is going to be messed up. How will the new magazine format know where to “dump” my posts, plugins, etc? I hope you understand what I mean – I don’t know enough about WordPress yet so I guess I just don’t understand how the new theme knows where to put my current posts…or do I have to manually go in and move the posts to the new location?
Another big concern is that I will lose my Google Friends Connect Plugin/Widget. I use this on a weekly basis for contests and giveaways so I would hate to have to start over. Plus, it’s used to base the number of giveaways my sponsors donate – as my followers increase each week so does the amount of prizes. Is there a way to test a theme before actually applying it to make sure things will not be lost/deleted with this change?
One more question! Is there a magazine theme you can recommend that would work well for a craft blog where I have numerous topics/links/sections, tutorials and a gallery? My blog is heavy in text and photos with many videos to be added soon.
My URL is https://www.olivejuicestudio.com
Thank you so much for any help you can offer!
