I love this plugin concept, been using a modded version for years. Was updating a theme version and saw it hadn’t been updated for sometime and support wasn’t been dealt with, so made sense to add what I was doing to the theme to a plugin: stopped work on the theme version to create the plugin, so right now the new plugin is better than what I sell as part of a premium theme.
It uses all of the settings from the original Display Widgets plugin, (used the same database names to make upgrading faster) so some will be set to what you had before, though some have different names now and do slightly different things.
There’s new options, which will be set to the defaults until you edit the widgets.
For example Showing/Hiding on what was under Miscellaneous +/- on the original plugin have been split into Paged and non-Paged (Page 1 of an Archive set). The original plugin includes show/hide on “All Archives” which when ticked shows/hides the widget on pages 1,2,3,4… of each archive set. The new option is split into two:
All Archives – Page 1 Only
All Archives – Pages 2,3,4…
To achieve the same as the original plugin you’d tick both of them.
If you are upgrading and currently have “All Archives” ticked, you’ll find one of the two new options are ticked, so you’d edit the widget and tick the other settings to achieve the same result.
I recommending checking and saving each widget one by one like you’ve never used the Display Widgets plugin before: can’t go wrong that way ??
Hope that makes sense.
