• I’m actually trying to avoid more problems by not updating to 4.5.1 just right now

However will my project, developed under 4.4.2, inherit the new properties and especially Responsiveness of the 4.5.1 update if I do update?

I’m thinking such a thing is too good to be true.

Will current project benefit from 4.5.1 update?

    Yes.

Part of any WordPress site is being able to support and maintain your installation. Keeping your code up to date is part of that.

Unless your site’s theme or plugins are doing something that it should not then upgrading to 4.5.1 should not be a problem. If you want to play it extra safe (safe is good) make sure you have a full backup of your files and database stored off of your webserver first.

If something goes wrong then restore both and you’ll be back to your pre-upgrade state.

When I’m in doubt if anything could go wrong after an update I first test it on my local copy of the website. (To get the copy, I clone the website, by downloading all files and database, and then I change the two first entries (siteurl and home) in wp_options table.)
