• I would like to change my permalinks to sitename/postname from sitename/year/month/date/postname.

I’m going on the advice in Yoast’s post on SEO.
    https://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/

Before I do this I want to make sure that it won’t hurt my search engine traffic and many backlinks to older posts.

I have about 300 posts over 5 years, with maybe 20 very popular posts that I wouldn’t want to lose traffic to.

Is it safe for me to make this change? Is it advisable?
Thank you kindly for anyone to share their experience on this topic!!!

  • Not worth it one bit.

Keep your structure the way it is and enjoy your search engine traffic.

Not having the year/month in the URL will not give added benefits from a 5 year old site.

Thank you for giving me your guidance.

Just curious what the downside is and how it relates to the age of the site?

    thank you!!
