• We are testing out ADFS SAML with a ADFS provider; They are suggesting that we cannot continue testing unless we use a certficate from a Cert Authority. From what I understand of the configuration of ADFS this should not be a problem. Obviously I have no frame of reference to confirm this though. My configuration uses a Self Signed Cert on https and the adfs login page is called correctly however the page never returns with a call back it just loops around the login. So do I need a Cert from an Authority or is the bug elsewhere

    No but you’ll get a lot of popup messages stating that the certificate isn’t one from a verified authority … and as such not getting one from a trusted supplier isn’t advised. It’s ok for testing. but if you plan to roll it out to a “large” number of people its easier to but the cert and do away with the explanation.
