Width/height not working

First, let me say I’m very happy to have found a video plugin with captions that actually work. I work for state government and manage my department’s intranet. We are required to have closed captions for our videos. So, thank you for enabling me to meet that requirement.
Second, I realize our WP version (3.9.12) doesn’t meet your version requirement, but updating WP is not a simple task here. Getting videos published is an immediate issue, updating WP is not. So, I’m hoping you can overlook that fact. I’m also hoping it’s not related to my issue.
Even though the actual dimensions of the video are 1500×842, I am failing to get the video to display at any width using the width attribute. Whether the width is set or not, videos seem to default to a width of 550px. Enabling “Responsive Videos” lets the video fill its containing element, but I’d like to be able to set an explicit width, especially for showing the video in a lightbox that gets its height from its content.
