    Hi,
I’m playing with 2015; I don’t know yet to like it or not.

Anyway, the example shows a left sidebar and a right content column. In the content column is some margin/padding left en right of the actual content. But, the featured image is “full width” (I mean, the full width of the content column). For some reason, my featured image is as wide as the text. I want it full width. The image has enough pixels ?? Where is this set?

NB of course I made a child theme.

    Redards,
    Bas

  • Hey there bvo,

    Hope you’re well! ??

I tested this on my install and it is indeed taking all the space. I suggest you try to comment out all of your custom css ( if any ) . Also try to use bigger image or another image. Can you share your site’s url? Maybe a css code from a plugin affect the width. Try disabling all your plugin temporarily.

Looking forward for your reply! ??

    Take care,

    Hi Calcin,

    Thanks for your reply!

I deactivated all plugins, and, to test, used twenty fifteen parent theme. So no css was changed. And still it’s not good. Since I’m only playing with this theme, I can’t show it you. However, I made a screenshot:
You can see the white space on both sides of the image. The image is 1300 pix wide; that shoud be enough, isn’t it?

    Hope you can help me?!

    Regards,
    Bas

    Hey there Bas,

    Hope you’re well! ??

Since I’m only playing with this theme, I can’t show it you.

You mean you are hosting it locally? If so, try installing new WordPress site with same theme then try if the image still has an issue there.

No media settings altered? If installing new site don’t work. I suggest you upload the image to me “as-is” and I will test it on my install.

Looking forward for your reply! ??

    Hi Calvin,

Thanks again. Hope you’re well too ??

I run a site with twenty fourteen child theme. Now and then, I like to change that and try something new. So I play around with it, and test it, untill I’m satisfied, and then I activiate it. I don’t think I can run another test site, the same time I run my “real” site, can I?

Not sure where to alter media settings, other than with my plugins, but will check that.

I can try reinstall wp 4.1 or the twenty fifteen theme?

If that’s not it, what do you mean by uloading the image, do you mean the picture I use (I tried different images), or the twenty fiteen “image”, or…?

Looking forward to your reply ??

Calvin, I set my twenty fifteen site live: here

Layout might change next days, however, I intent to leave this theme live (for now). Hope you’re able to point me in the right direction…

    Bas

    Hey there Bas,

    Hope you’re well! ??

No need for reinstalling ?? turns out your image width size is not enough to fill the entire section.

Minimum width of image to fill the section must be: 825px . Look at this when I temporarily set the width of your image to 825px: https://prntscr.com/5u8fzy

    Hope it helps! ??

    Hi Calvin,

    Thank you! It worked.

I uploaded images 1300 pix wide. In the media library the imagges were still 1300 pix wide! Now I deleted all images en re-uploaded them (with 825 pix wide) and now it works. For some reason the media library made it a mess.

Anyway, it is fixed. Thank you.

    Hello
Im actually having the same problem as #bas, cant figure out where to set the image width

    Thomas

    Hey there tummes,

    Hope you’re well! ??

cant figure out where to set the image

The width that we are talking about is the width of image he use. So I suggest to make your image larger.

Let me know if it helps! ??

    Cheers!
    Calvin
