• Hello,

All of a sudden none of my Virtue widgets are working. I have not changed anything, or added any new plugins recently. Some of my plugins do update automatically, so that would be the only change.

For example, all my social media link images are missing now, although the links are still there when you scroll over the little empty box it now shows.

When I check my widgets in my admin panel, I get a whole list of errors, for example:

The “custom_html” block was affected by errors and may not function properly. Check the developer tools for more details.

The “media_image” block was affected by errors and may not function properly. Check the developer tools for more details.

    And on and on.

When I click the list view at the top of the widgets page, it lists ALL my widgets as “Legacy Widget”

    What has happened?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey,

Apologies for the delay! I thought I had responded to you already but apparently I did not.

It sounds like you recently update to the latest version of WordPress, which changed the way widgets with in WordPress. They have added blocks to the widget area.

You may need to reconfigure those widgets to get them looking the way you want. They will work exactly the same as legacy widgets, you’ll just place them using the block editor.

Are you able to rebuild them or does that not work for you?

    Best,
    Kevin

I have never used the block editor, I’ve been using Beaver Builder. I will give it a try, thank you for your help.

Oh my gosh, what a mess. It has really messed up my footer titles. I don’t seem to have the same control I used to. They all look different than each other now.

Also, it looks like the Virtue: Social Links widget doesn’t work at all any more. It keeps giving me errors and won’t display properly.

And the “Home Icon Menu” doesn’t show icons anymore. This is right in the Theme Options section, so I’m not sure how to fix that.

    Hey,

Try adding this plugin to your site to restore the functionality of the classic widgets:

Hopefully that will take care of the problems for you!

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Thank you Kevin,

Yesterday I changed everything to blocks, which didn’t work – now I have changed back all my widgets to the classic ones after installing the plugin, and although “text”, “html”, and “havigation menu” all work now, anything that shows an image such as “social icons”, “search” and the “home icon menu” do not work.

So, it still looks the same as it did when I originally sent the message.

    Any other suggestions?

I have tried deactivating one by one “most” of my plugins to see if one of them could be causing an issue – I’ve also checked to be sure they are all compatible with this version of WordPress, which they are except for the Virtue Toolkit, which I have deactivated.

This is more than a widget problem, because the Theme Options section is having issues with the Home Icon Menu as well. It does seem that anything that uses an icon at all seems to have an issue.

Okay, strangely now the icons have shown up, hours later.

However, I no longer have THEME OPTIONS in my Appearance tab! What. Is. Happening?

    (@cindymit)

Shoot. Never mind. it was part of the Virtue Toolkit, which I had disabled while I was checking the various plugins.

    Hi @cindymit,
Glad you were able to figure that out! Is there anything else we can help you with?

    Kindly,
    Hannah
