Widgets Replacing Everything On The Side Bar

Whenever I install a widget it replaces everything else in that sidebar. I am using a two sidebar theme and it doesn’t matter which one I put the widget in, everything else on that sidebar disappears and only the widget shows. I have searched and do not find an answer to this. By the way, I had the same problem in version 2.7 and downgraded to 2.6 and the problem persists. I have also tried several themes which say they are widget ready.

You can look at markcovington.org to see what I mean. Before I put the calendar widget in there is recent posts and other items in the sidebar.

Can someone help me with this.
