When I activate Disable Gutenberg and go to Customizing->Widgets->Footer, there are no widgets shown, and I can’t add any. If I deactivate Disable Gutenberg, and activate Classic Widgets and Classic Editor then the footer widgets show as expected.

I have tested this on a fresh InstaWP site running WP 6.01 with the 2021 theme, and no other plugins active.

Thanks for your help with this.

Not sure, have you tried disabling the option “Classic Widgets”? Might have something to do with it.

If I un-check the “Classic Widgets” option in Disable Gutenberg then the footer widgets do show in the customizer, but the interface is Gutenberg blocks.

I have tested this on 3 different WP installs with the same result. I can send you the InstaWP login if you want to check it.

“but the interface is Gutenberg blocks”

That’s probably the issue, as DG plugin disables Gutenberg (blocks). So anything inside of the whole “Gutenberg” thing is not gonna work when DG is active.

Unless I’m not understanding the issue here..?

Here are a couple of screen snips to show the issue:

With the “Classic Widgets” plugin active I get:
    CW-widgets-show
So I can see and edit or add the footer widgets.

    With DG active I get:
    DG-widgets-dont-show
No widgets show, and no add button.

With DG active, but the Classic Widgets option unchecked I get:
    DG-with-CW-option-unchecked
So, the widgets do show, but with the Gutenberg interface.

What I want is for DG to show the widgets with the classic editor type interface.

    Thanks.

Yeah probably gonna want to use the Classic Editor plugin in that case. Or maybe try experimenting with some of the DG options, like “Enable Frontend” might take care of it. Otherwise, it’s just not something that’s supported at this time.

With DG active, the “Appearance->Widgets” screen shows the classic widget interface, so I will use that instead of the customizer.

Thanks for the plugin and your support.

    You are welcome, @gk48.

Let me know if I can provide any further infos, glad to help anytime.

So is there no way to resolve this other than using the Classic Editor plugin?

@sogwap at this time that is correct.
