• Installed Child Theme and then all of a sudden out of the blue, I have lost numerous widgets. I can now longer access my right side bar, left, center and right footers. On appearance, the only widget is the Facebook widget. Need to add, delete and make changes to footer and right sidebar. Do I need to uninstall the child theme? Will I loose all of my updates and changes.

  • It sounds like you are installing and uninstalling plugins, rather than activating them and deactivating them. If the jetpack folder exists, then you are possibly trying to install it twice(?). If it’s not showing on your installed pugins, however, then it looks like a previous uninstall failed.

Could you explain better what you mean when you say “When I did a search of the plugin-nothing comes up.”

The vertical dots are coming from something with a class of “the_champ_sharing_container the_champ_horizontal_sharing”, which is from the Super Socializer plugin, not the theme.

My terminology maybe different. I am using deactivate. On the wp plugin page which shows all of the plugins that were installed that are active, inactive, etc. The Jetpack is not there and is not showing inactive, active, deleted, etc. Knowing that it was installed as part of my theme package, I searched for it in the plugin dashboard, “no plugins found” so when I tried to install it, that’s when I got the error message as I listed above.

As for the social media plugin that I was talking about, I deactivated it too. All of the social icons are gone except for the vertical dots going down the page where the icons used to be.

By the way, thank you for responding!
