widgets fatal error message

  • i tried to instal the widgets plug in and everything seemed to be going ok.. i uploaded to the correct directory and all (wp-content/plugins) but when i went to activate i got this error message:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebars() (previously declared in /home/worldpub/public_html/blog/wp-includes/widgets.php:13) in /home/worldpub/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/widgets/widgets.php on line 22

    i have upgraded to version 2.6 just today but noticed the widgets werent added as standard plugin for me to activate so thats why i needed to upload i tried searching this error message prior to posting this but didnt get any results ao im posting it here in the hope i can get sum assistance..

  • you don’t need the plugin anymore. it is for older WP installs. widgets are standard now (and have been since 2.3ish i think)
