I’ve installed the WP plugin on my site, added the code to the header.php and footer.php files as described, and added a sidebar, as well as a menu control. Everything seems to work as expected except that when I add a widget to the Off Canvas: Left Sidebar area, I can save the widget but then when I reload the widgets page, whatever widgets I’ve added have disappeared from that section. They also don’t ever appear on the sliding sidebar on the front end of the site.

I’m using the OneSocial theme from BuddyBoss.

    Hi @kristinrutten

That sounds strange. This can’t have anything to do with your theme template structure but it could be that a plugin or theme functionality is causing an error on the widgets page (javascript) or when saving the widgets.
Have you tried it on a fresh (clean) installation?
What other plugins are you using?

Since it’s 3:20am here I’ll be offline for the night, I’ll check in tomorrow!

Thanks Jory… I tried deactivating a few plugins with no change, but I have several and they are not optional for my purposes. For the moment, I’m short on time and found a different plugin that does something similar and seems to work. Just thought I’d post here in case you knew an easy-to-figure out reason it wasn’t working.

Ok, no unfortunately I don’t know what could be the cause but I’d realy like to find out if you have the time.

I think I’ve might found your problem.
Did your sidebar ID had any capitals?

Just found out that the plugin allowed capitals in the sidebar ID while WordPress doesn’t allow this for register_sidebar.
This is most likely the problem.

Changing the sidebar ID to all lowercase did the trick Jory … thanks for the tip!! ??

    Ok perfect!
I’ve already patched this to the upcoming release.
    Thanks for your bug report!

(I considered this a bug since this plugin should not have allowed capitals in the first place)
