    Site is https://fliartists.com
    Theme is Weaver Xtreme 2.1.3
Multiple plugins in use, including Custom Sidebars Version 2.1.1.6 By WPMU DEV

We use Custom sidebars extensively to provide artist-specific information in the sidebar, for example https://fliartists.com/artists/global-roots/alt/

We have around 60 custom sidebars set up as of now. Each one contains a single text widget.

On my most recent update of both WP core and the theme, all the widgets were detached from their proper locations and scattered; some to the inactive area, some to incorrect custom sidebars, some to theme-provided sidebars. This happened both to custom sidebars and theme sidebars.

Putting everything back in place is a tedious job. How can I prevent this from ever happening again?

(I’ve cross-posted this to the Custom Sidebars support forum.)

  • WordPress will loose widgets allocation when switching to a new theme, but updating the theme should not loose these location.
If these widgets were in the plugin sidebars, you may want to ask the plugin developer.

In the future, for any weaver support, post on the Weaver support site, as this one is not monitored
