• My previous thread is getting no response to my second post so I thought I’d better start a new one.

Basically, the widgets on my site look different on the live site than they do in Customize:

The WordPress follow button is not showing up, nor is the email signup widget. Search blog, recent posts, categories, archives and recent comments are showing up, BUT in a different order to how I’ve arranged them in Customize, the search box is missing the text “Search Blog” above it, and the categories aren’t showing the number of posts in them. This is all in my right sidebar—in my footer, neither widget (subscribe and search) are showing up at all.

When I initially posted just about the follow button (as at the time that was all I had noticed), I got a reply suggesting it might be a javascript error. I followed the instructions to check. Loads of errors come up in Chrome (and I don’t know what any of them mean), but I have the same problem in Edge and only one error comes up:

Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received.

I don’t know if this is the cause or not and don’t know what it means. I’ve tried updating the browser but no change.

I’ve previously found that changing the site name and tagline in Customize didn’t show up on the live site and I had to change it elsewhere in my dashboard as well (I can’t remember where). Where would I have to go to fix this?

  • Hi,
For something like this, 2 tests are needed:

    1. Check with another theme. As the problem may be from the theme try to install any other theme and see if the same problem appears.

    2. Check with all plugins disabled. If it works ok like this, enable the plugins one by one and test after each one to see when exactly is the problem appearing.

Let me know the result ??

Thank you for your suggestions, @andreisiminiciuc Unfortunately, the problem still occurred on other themes, and also with all the plugins disabled. Any advice what to try now? I’m very keen to resolve this issue since it impacts readers being able to follow my blog!

Now I do not see any error on the site. Either the widgets are not saving, in WordPress dashboard or it is a cache issue from Endurance Page Cache – try to clear the cache from this ( it may be a plugin or something from the host ).
