• Hello, I am using the free theme Autofocus with two widgets dragged on to Sidebar 1, Archive and Categories. However, they have disappeared from the site. This used to work fine before. I have upgraded to latest WordPress, 3.5.1, but this had happened before I did the upgrade so not related. I have tried with Widget Reset plug-in but it hasn’t worked. Would be really grateful for any help – I really cannot see a reason why it shouldn’t work. I have made changes to the CSS stylesheet but haven’t touched anything else. Thanks to anyone who’ll bother to help! I am slightly going spare with this. I really don’t need much on this site, but I do need monthly archive and categories. https://www.piccianeri.com/drawing

  • That theme is almost 4 years old and is no longer being supported by its developer. I would strongly advise you to switch to a far newer theme.

    but I really like it!

I think it’s only fair to warn you that – with a theme this old – it’s going to cause you nothing but problems and may soon be completely incompatible with the latest version of WordPress. Consider changing now before it brings the whole site down.

Ok Esmi, thank you, I appreciate that. I am determined to learn WordPress properly so I will use this as an opportunity. Thank you (I am fully backed up, by the way).

Even if the theme fails completely, it should not damage any of your content. But it’s still not nice to upgrade WordPress and find yourself locked out of a broken site because of an old theme.
