Widgets

  • on our site https://www.estpuk.com we are using a templte from https://www.wpart.org/ when we try to add widgets to the sidebar all the existing stuff disappears just leaving the widget. I have spent a few hours trying to find a similar post on the forum but had no luck. Does ANYONE have any ideas please? Let me just add that I am a newbie to WordPress so you will have to forgive me if you think this is a stupid question!

  • That is usually how the theme’s are designed. your sidebar.php file controls it…. they are usually coded to be like:

    if there are no widgets, display: recent posts, pages, archives, blogroll, and meta (just an example)….

    If there are widgets, display those.

    You should have default widgets you can put on the sidebar to replace anything that disappeared…..
