I have been trying to fix a Visual Composer in which Text Boxes don’t show up properly in edit mode (white text on white background, all tags showing, no formatting bar). I followed a suggestion in another thread which said deactivate all plugins, switch to twenty fourteen theme, clear browser cache, then reverse the process. The contributor said this would solve the problem. It hasn’t…

But far more seriously, since doing this, all my widgetised sidebars have vanished, and I was using them extensively throughout the site for customised menus, and to display news and events on the home page. The site looks very broken now and it will take a long time to rebuild all the sidebars.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can reinstate this?

Site is https://www.callingtoncc.net. It looks dreadful ??

OK, I fixed it myself. When I came back to it clear-headed in the morning I found that all the menus, sidebars and widgets were still there, they just weren’t joined up. All I had to do was match up the sidebars with the widgets and hey presto! (almost) everything is back to normal.
