• I’m trying to edit a widget in my sidebar. When I click “Edit” in any of the widget boxes under Current Widgets, they don’t open at all. I used to be able to open them to edit them. It’s been a while since I’ve edited my widgets, so it may have been in a previous WP version when I last was able to open them.

I’m using IE. The widgets open in Firefox. I don’t want to have to switch browsers just to edit widgets.

    Can anyone help me?

(I tried upgrading to 2.6.2 to see if it was a problem with 2.6.1, but that wasn’t working either. Instant Upgrade just gives me a blank screen after I click Upgrade. And the dashboard still says “upgrade now.” But this is another question for another post…)

  • Did you ever resolve this problem? I just now encountered the exact same issue. I’m using Explorer and the widget buttons won’t open to make edits. In Firefox they will. Please advise if you have found a solution.

    Thanks.

I found at another forum that it was a matter of rebooting the computer. I did that and now I am able to edit the widgets as expected.

One more time–I encountered the problem once again. I rebooted and was then able to edit. But, after working a bit the problem returned-quite frustrating as I don’t want to keep rebooting. So, that really isn’t a solution at all.

On revisiting some of the forums it was suggested to upgrade Java script. I did that and the widgets came to life. I hope this is a solid fix.

OK, I went to lunch, came back and once again the widgets are not editable. I did find a work-around. I am using IE6 and when I right-click on the widget’s [Edit] button and [Open in New Window] it opens the widget for editing.

I think this will do it for me with this issue. Not a good resolution but certainly a work-around.

ok – i have this same problem – even in Firefox

can’t open any widgets in any theme even by right-clicking

    VERY frustrating
