    `Hi,

First, I absolutely love this plugin and will be giving you guys a 5-star review soon! Huge, HUGE thanks!

That said, I am experiencing a problem. If you follow the link to my website, on the right side I have a sidebar with two widget menus:
    1. Site Menu
    2. Admin ONLY!

The “Admin ONLY!” is a “Custom Menu” widget with the following Content Control restrictions applied:
    1. Who can see this widget? = Logged in Users
    2. Which roles can see this widget? = Administrator checked, nothing else

However, the “Admin ONLY!” menu still appears for everyone. To rule out cookie or ip issues, I disabled wifi on my phone and went to the site… the “hidden” menu still appeared.

I know that your Content Control plugin is working properly because that’s why I needed the “Admin ONLY!” menu – – – to make it easy to browse to a redirect page even though I’m logged in.

Each of my two menus has a corresponding page:
Free Stories! – ACTUAL (on Site Menu)
Free Stories! – REJECT (on Admin ONLY)

The “Free Stories! – ACTUAL” is only available to logged in users, thanks to your plugin. Anyone not logged in will be redirected to the other page.

So I know your plugin is working correctly, because that works perfectly for me. ??

The only problem I’m having is that my “Custom Menu” widget seems to be ignoring the Content Control restrictions I applied. Any suggestions for fixing this would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Fez

    Hey @feznizzle,

Thanks for your feedback and a great description of what’s going on.

So, Content Control is great for restricting access to “content” (as you’ve noticed).

To actually hide stuff like that admin menu, you can use a WordPress hook.

Here’s a link to an example you can try and tweak as needed.

BTW, there were plugins for hiding widgets based on roles, but I don’t think they’re maintained anymore.

Let us know how that goes ??

    Mega bummer!

This option isn’t terribly important to me, so if I can’t easily solve it with a plugin I’ll just nix it before the site goes live.

But I do have a question:
Is the “Who can see this widget?” option something that your plugin added by your plugin?

Double checking. Yes, looks like it belongs to your plugin. I found this screenshot attached to the More Info popup for Content Control:
    https://ps.w.org/content-control/assets/screenshot-7.png

You guys might want to kill that screen shot and remove those options from widget settings if you don’t plan to actually make it work.

Anyway… I’m bummed about this, but still very happy with the rest of your plugin! ??

    Hey @feznizzle,

Thanks so much for your follow-up.

We’re looking more closely at this issue. I apologize for my earlier confusion (thinking of another use case).

    We’ll keep you posted!

    Cheers!

Hold the press! Are you saying that this *is* supposed to be working???

    YAHOOOO!

Are you guys in the process of fixing this? That sidebar widget (titled “Admin ONLY!”) is still on my site if you want to check it.

It is still visible to the public, even though I applied Content Controls exactly like your screenshot shows here:
    https://ps.w.org/content-control/assets/screenshot-7.png

Any suggestions or help fixing this would be fantastic!
