Is there any way to put this in a widget? I’m using Parallax Pro on Genesis and most of the front page content is in the section widgets. My decision tree looks like this in the page on the live site:
    [decisiontree id=”43″]

I assume this is because it’s in a widget and not a post. Anyone know a good way to put this in the widget content?

  • jameswcaudill – thanks for the question! Unfortunately Decision Tree does not currently natively support being rendered in a widget. I haven’t tried it, but you may be able to run a plugin which shows posts as widgets, like this one, to achieve your goal.

Otherwise, we’ll look to add this as a feature in the future!

Thanks! I will try that and will try to report back on how it works.

It doesn’t appear to activate for multisite when I Network Activate that Ultimate Posts plug-in. I’m also a little skeptical of anything with 20 unanswered support posts. The last update was back in August 2014, almost a year ago.

Thanks for trying. I’m trying to find something with drop-downs as well if anyone has any ideas. ?? The sheer number of buttons to choose from when I have 20 items in the first choice just doesn’t look right. That said, I have gotten more than my $5 worth from Decision Tree!

jameswcaudill – thanks for the update about Ultimate Posts. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. We’ll still look to add widget support in a future release.

Per you DT with 20 choices on the screen – do you have any input on how we could improve the layout for you? Would it help if we could reduce the size or put the choices in a grid?

Otherwise, may be you could break down the steps the so user only sees 2-5 choices at a time instead of 20?

    Best of luck!

Hm, I guess in this case, the ideal solution might be a drop down box option available. In the meantime, I’m looking for where to change the button width in the CSS so all the choices are the same width.

    Is it in .dt_button?

I found it. It wasn’t updating for some reason when I changed the CSS in sidecar-decision-tree/decisiontree_local_style.css (inactive), but it started working.

jameswcaudill – ah, thanks for the suggestion about the drop down.

As well, glad to hear you found the css to update!

I don’t know how common it is, but a link or list of links send like it would be a common conclusion to a decision tree on the web.

Have you considered a third type of item, a link list? Right now, I have to take an extra step to send users to a link answer.

Yes! We’re going to add this feature as well. In the meanwhile, you can cram html with links like this:

    Google it!

In either your answer’s text (button) or subtext (text above the button).

sktrader – we’ve just posted 1.1 which has a feature for linked answers:

    • Added feature so answers can now have links and info boxes with HTML.
    • Fixed a bug when inserting DT in post or page, the DT modal rendering beneath WYSIWYG bar. We now render as expected.
    • Fixed a bug which showed “Add Choice” buttons for answers. They’re now hidden.
    • Fixed a bug where answers with no links don’t have hover effects like links do. Linkless answers no long have hover effects.

Thanks again for all your input!
