    Hi rankogrba

I have not seen this before.

It seems the widget settings are not found in the database. Can you check if this is also happening with other widgets by changing a setting to something other than the default.

How many time passes before it changes?

I don’t have similar widgets with default settings, but I will try with changing the default number of related posts to 2 instead of 5.

Can’t say how much time, it happens the same day.

I tried the shortcode in one post and there I have also a “situation”. This is the shortcode:

    [related_posts_by_tax taxonomies=”Ознаке” title=”Повезани текстови” posts_per_page=”5″]

Everything works fine except that the title is “Related posts” (default) and not what I wrote in the shortcode.

Well, I just tried the shortcode on another post that does not have any tags (I am trying this plugin on my beta site) and it shows related posts. So I went to the widget settings and it has changed to “all taxonomies”.

Change again to “tags” and back to the last post and refresh. No related posts in the sidebar but the shortcode shows still 5 related posts…

I guess you are right, looks like the settings are not seen in the database. I will talk to the site developer and database administrator.

Do you use any of the filters?
    https://keesiemeijer.wordpress.com/related-posts-by-taxonomy/filters/

Try deactivating all plugins except this one to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the other plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Also, for tags you should use ‘post_tag’ as the taxonomy, not the translation

    [related_posts_by_tax taxonomies="post_tag" title="Повезани текстови" posts_per_page="5"]

    No filters.

Tried with “post_tag” in shortcode but same result.

I guess I will try your suggestion with deactivating plugins. Just to see first what the developer/admin will say.

    Thanks for your efforts.

Nothing to do with tags specifically.

Tried the same thing with “categories” in the widget and it returned “all taxonomies” after a while.

Yeah, it’s reverting back to the default. That’s why I asked if any other widget has the same problem. Try using a WordPress default widget like the text widget, setting a title and text.

The shortcode and the function in functions.php (for all single posts) works fine now.
The problem was with “Ознаке”, the suggestion to put “post_tag” helped.
Also with the Shortcode there was a problem with the language that was displayed as used for “title”, I changed that and everything was fine.

The problem I have with the widget persists.

Will be back with more info.

I found out something that maybe could be of use for your help.

In WP when I go to Settings > General and change the “Site language” to English (United States) and change the widget setting to tags, the setting stays this way.

When I go back to “Site language” and choose Serbian again, after some time the widget setting changes automatically to “all taxonomies”.

    (@rankogrba)

Sorry, the last comment is actually not valid.

I left the “Site language” to English with the option Tags in the widget area and this afternoon I checked and it was again changed to “All taxonomies”.

So it has nothing to do with the Site language.

I know now the exact moment when it’s reverting back to default: when I hit “Edit” either for a post or a page. I make no changes to the post or page, so it is not the “Update” button, but just “Edit”.

    Any idea?

    Hi rankogrba

I’ve tried on my site and cannot replicate the issue. Did you try with other widgets?

What plugins are you using besides this one?

    Thread Starter rankogrba

    (@rankogrba)

Other widgets work fine (from other plugins or textual widgets).
    Plugins (widgets that are used):
    – List Category posts
    – Table of Contents plus
    – Page scroll to ID

Thank you for the support and help.
For the time being I will remove the widget and just use the option in functions.php (to put it at the end of posts).

I’ve tried with your plugins and still couldn’t replicate the issue.

I will let you know if more people have this problem or if I can replicate it

    Sorry for the inconvenience
