Hello, i’m using plugin 1.5.1 and I have three fields I’m asking subscribers to complete (fname; lname; email) of which only email is required.

When testing, I get the following error:

Warning: trim() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /xxx/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 909
The resource submitted could not be validated. For field-specific details, see the ‘errors’ array.

Can you help me figure out how to make this work?

    Thanks!

  • Hey steigw,

Thanks for letting me know – I’d love to take a look and see what’s going on here. In order to do that, can you please get back to me with the following details:

    – A link to your signup form
    – Where are you seeing the warning?
    – What WordPress theme is being used?

    Thanks!

sign up form is at https://arlinstitute.org. I’ve noticed that scottgruber had the same error about 3 weeks ago. His post is titled “PHP 7.0.8 throws trim error”. I edited line 909 exactly as he shows it and now get a different error.

WordPress theme is Nisarg. Error shows right on the website after pressing the submit button.

Do you want me to revert line 909 back to the original? then the error is same as scottgruber.

I went ahead and reverted back to your original code so you could see the error that comes “out of the box” so to speak.

    Hey Steigw,

You are totally correct – this is the exact same error scottgruber brought to our attention a few weeks ago. While we can’t provide an exact ETA, I can assure you that a bugfix will be pushed soon that will resolve the error you’re seeing.

    Thanks!
