• Hi

I have a question regarding the Widget Output Limitations.

I have created a new filter: “Filter by Type” to filter by product categories.

I have then selected Brands in “Widget Output Limitations” so as to only show the Brands parent category and all the sub categories within Brands, and NOT show any other categories in the filter.

However, the filter still shows ALL the categories.

    Can you help?

    Thanks a lot
    Regards, Shan

    Hello @guavahealth,

If you saying about “Product Category Value Limitation” option, then it is not like “Display categories that child of”, but most like “Display categories that have products from”.

Also it seems that you trying to display categories as different filters, but better way to do it using product attributes.

    Oleg

I think you have misunderstood my question. Filter by Attritube is NOT the right thing to use here.

I am not trying to only display child categeories.

I have a few different types of product categories including:
    Brands
    Type
    Deals
    Condition
    etc..

    Each of these have sub-categories:
    For example

    Brands
    – Altrient
    – Solgar
    – Natures Plus
    – Quest
    etc. etc.

I want to use “Widget Output Limitations” to only show the Brands category including all it’s sub categories. Please see attachment in link

SECONDLY, a separate question, the list of sub-categroeis are NOT sorted/ordered alphabetically. Please see link

    Hello @guavahealth,

As I said in previous message “Product Category Value Limitation” option most like “Display categories that have products from”.
It means if one product has category from “Brand” and from “Type” and you select in “Product Category Value Limitation” option “Brand”, then in filter also both categories will be displayed.

Free version of plugin do not have option to display sub-categories for single category.

Filter by attributes is right, because you can create attributes “Brands”, “Type”, “Deals”, “Condition” and set it to products, then display different filters for all of this attributes.

We recomend not to use multiple filters for same taxonomy(category in your case).

    Oleg

You still don’t understand my question.

I just want to displat the Brands category and it’s subcategories in the Filter drop-down – that’s it. I don’t want to show the other categories in the drop-down.

    Is that possible?

    Thank you

    Hello @guavahealth,

Answer for you question was in previous message:

Free version of plugin do not have option to display sub-categories for single category.

In free version you can use attributes to get same result.

This is not correct. I can get the subcategories for the parent category in the free version (see attached

My only problem is I want to limit the filter to only show selected category

    Hi @guavahealth,

The ‘Product Category Value Limitation’ option is working in a bit another way. What you need is not presented in the free version of the plugin.

    Dima
