Widget on main page only

You can create a simple if statement which allows you to check if this is the home page, you could also use a similar one to work with other pages, so check via ID.

<?php if(is_front_page() ) { ?>
<?php } else { ?>
<?php } ?>

i have no html i think that looks like experience at all so im not even going to pretend to know what that does hehe im assuming it checks if its the home page and if it is allows widgets into the sidebar?
What would be the text for not allowing widgets on other pages?
and where would i put this code, would it go into the sidebar php in edit?
