• I’m fairly new to the WordPress family. My theme is Karma. So far I’m really diggin’ it, but after adding the ‘1/3 column + 2/3 column’ shortcode on my homepage this morning, my Google Calendar widget now appears wayyy lower on my page, in the Left Sidebar area. (Just for clarification, this is NOT a blogging site. It’s a regular site for a town government.) Is it because of adding the shortcode? I’ve since taken it out and tried other formats and templates. I even went back to no shortcode at all and Left Sidebar for the template: my original configuration. The widget is still too low. When I installed it Monday, it was right at the top of the left sidebar area where it should have been. It’s almost like some of my previous edits are preventing it from displaying properly. Please keep in mind that I’m fairly new to WordPress and web design in general, so if you have any suggestions, please dumb it down for me. Thanks.

  • Would you be able to share a link, so that it’s easier to visualize?

I wasn’t able to share a link, as it’s on our company’s network. Thanks for your response christogeretz. After MUCH experimentation, I found that my widgets would display properly in the right sidebar area (instead of the left) with the Toolbar-Right Side. Everytime I tried to use the Toolbar-Left Side, the widgets (Google Calendar Agenda and News Announcement Scroll) would drop to the bottom of the content area. So, when viewing the homepage, where these widgets are, you didn’t even see them until you scroll way down. Yesterday I had been playing with shortcodes and all I could figure was the Toolbar-Left Side became corrupt. I was able to duplicate the same problem on another page with no content. The page had no content when I started and the widgets were in the right place (still working on the left side). As soon as I added content, they dropped lower in the sidebar. I’ve had no problem using the Toolbar-Right Side with multiple widgets today. Is corruption from shortcodes a common issue? Our client will maintain this site when we’re done, and I don’t want them to have problems with it.
