Widget not showing today's event

The event calendar itself it working quite well, but the widget doesn’t show the event that is happening on the day of the event. It drops the event from the widget on the very day of the event. I don’t see a setting that changes this, but I may just be overlooking it. Is there a way to change this setting so that today’s event will stay in the widget through the end of the day of the event?
