Widget Keeps Reverting to Data From 2 Weeks Ago
-
My widget will not remain updated. If I go into the settings and check the box to refresh the cover image URL’s, it will update to the current status. But upon refreshing the page the widget reverts back to data from 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall the plugin but I can’t get it to remain updated. Any help you could offer?

I assume it’s caused by a caching plugin. Are you using one?
I am not. I have a Varnish Purge Cache plugin and I tried deactivating that but it didn’t solve the problem. Here is a list of my plugins:

Version 2.1.0 | By David Anderson, Ruhani Rabin, Team Updraft | View detailsIf you could give me the address of your website, I can see if I see the old or new config on my end. Please also let me know how to differentiate the old and new config.
Sure thing. My site is https://www.krissinclair.com
The config that it keeps reverting to shows two books: “We Cannot Be Silent” by Al Mohler and “The Uneasy Conscience of Modern Fundamentalism” by Carl F.H. Henry
The current config that it should be showing is four books titled “Conscience”, “Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart”, “Truth in a Culture of Doubt”, and “The Whole Christ.”
I see the old one with the two books. I’m not sure what could be causing this. AFAIK there is nothing in the code that could cause this. You say you see the new version right after saving the widget settings? Can you explain to me step by step what you do to see the new version, and then the old version? Also, is there any difference if you don’t tick “reset cover URL cache” (which should not be necessary)?
What I usually do is go to the widget settings, tick the “reset cover URL cache” option, then select save. After it saves I visit my site and upon first visit everything is current and showing the four books. But if i navigate to another page on my site or if I refresh the page, it reverts back to the two books.
I just tried it now without resetting the URL cover cache and it did the same thing.
I also just noticed this plugin listed in the “drop-ins” menu. Don’t have any idea what it is or how it got there and there is no way to deactivate it.

Version 0.1.2 | By Scott Taylor – uses code from Ryan Boren, Denis de Bernardy, Matt Martz, Mike Schroder
Okay so I FTP’d into my site and deleted that drop in plugin mentioned above and now everything works!
Turns out it was installed alongside a caching plugin I had installed and when I uninstalled the caching plugin, the drop-in wasn’t removed.
Thanks for your help and fast response and thanks for a great plugin!
Great! Happy to hear it got resolved, and that it was a caching issue after all. ??
