Thanks for your detailed report and for opening a topic in the Widget Importer & Exporter forum as well; very helpful.
I have installed Widget Importer & Exporter and reproduced the problem you reported. I was able to solve it in two different ways, either of which should work for you as well.
First, I went to the Settings/Media Library Assistant Uploads tab, unchecked the “Enable Upload MIME Type Support” box and clicked Save Changes. This disables MLA’s file extension and MIME Type features. After doing that I was able to import the .wie
file without any problem.
Second, after I re-enabled MLA’s features I added the .wie
extension to the list of supported types:
- Navigate to the Settings/Media Library Assistant Uploads tab.
- Make sure the “Enable Upload MIME Type Support” box is checked and the File Extension table is displayed.
- Scroll down to the “Add New Upload MIME Type” in the left-hand part of the page.
- Enter “wie” in the Extension text box.
- Enter “application/json” in the MIME Type text box.
- Select an Icon Type from the dropdown list. I used “database” but “default” or any other choice would be fine.
- Leave the Inactive box unchecked.
- Enter an optional Description, e.g., “For Widget Importer/Exporter”
- Click “Add Upload MIME Type” to record your new type.
You can enter “wie” in the Search Uploads box in the upper-right to display your new type and confirm your settings.
With the new entry in place I was able to import .wie
files with MLA active. When MLA’s Uploads features are enabled other plugins such as the “WP Add Mime Types” plugin will be overridden – my thinking is why would you need more than one way to add types?
I will leave this topic unresolved for now and await your report on the effectiveness of the above suggestions. Thanks for the effort you’ve put in to this issue; I regret any inconvenience it has caused you.
