Widget for different categories

I cannot add the upcoming events widgets to a sidebar multiple times.
I would like to have different occurrences of the widget for different categories, but once I have added the widget to a sidebar, it is no longer in the list of available widgets.
Also, a nice-to-have, would be to include the category name as a class in the side bar events so that you can style them differently.
