Widget Drag & Drop Not Working

  • When I try to drag and drop items in the widget area to customize my sidebars, instead of dragging and dropping, it is highlighting things instead. I’m sure I’m just doing something really dumb, but I can’t figure out what.

  • Did this suddenly start happening? Did you change anything on your site before it started?

    Have you tried deactivating your plugins and switching to the twentytwelve theme (temporarily)?

    I hadn’t changed anything on there for several months, and then a couple of days ago I tried a new theme (just one of the freebie WordPress themes with the auto-installer). I decided I didn’t like it and switched it back to the theme I had, but I updated the theme first. When I switched back to the theme I had (Magazine Basic), the sidebars I originally had are saying “inactive sidebars (not used)”. However I have the options for “first sidebar”, “second sidebar” and “header area”… but I can’t drag and drop anything.

    I will try deactivating plugins and see if that helps.

    That seemed to do the trick. Got my sidebars fixed!! Thanks for the suggestion! I guess I had a plug-in that wasn’t compatible.

    which one was it? have the same problem here..
