Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

I was able to track down the issue to something filtering the output of get_the_post_thumbnail()

By default get_the_post_thumbnail() returns an html <img> of the featured images which is what is expected by simple links.

One of your plugins or your theme is wrapping the html from get_the_post_thumbnail() in a <a href="%permalink%"></a> which is breaking the markup.

It is also breaking the url of where the images are linking to.

You’re right, if I change the theme the links work perfectly. I will try to fix the problem, thank you very much for the support.
    Great plugin!
