• Let me start by saying “never forget that I am an idiot”, “Its me not you”, “outstanding plugin”. Sincerely all 3 are true. Using MailPoet Version 3.

Having said that here is my issue. I am using the widget with the shortcode [mailpoet_archive] and as shown in the link below it shows one link but the others are empty. I can of course manually put the links in but … well that defeats the point really. I am using the shortcode in an html widget but that really should not matter if one shows right? So what have I done wrong? Just to be clear. If I manually go into the widget and add the link it does work but isn’t the point that one of these widgets does that automagically?

Oh and btw. I tried using the Newsletter Listing widget but all it wants to do is show the newsletter signup information. In other words the same thing as the MailPoet Form???

To reproduce the error all I have to do is to make a new newsletter and the same thing happens.

  • 1) for the archive shortcode, if you just a few newsletters are appearing, make sure to add more lists to that option on your Settings page > Basics tab.

    2) What’s the Newsletter Listing widget? We don’t have such widget, just the MailPoet Form (which is our subscription forms).

My bad. I created the archive widget myself using the shortcode and a small script. That was not my main issue. What I was trying to say is you should have an archive widget.

As for the shortcode itself, it’s not that it totally doesn’t work. It does something but not what I would think the intention is.

    Using the shortcode

    [mailpoet_archive]

    Produces

    This

If I hack around a bit I can get it to show the newsletter linked as in

Newsletter is linked as you can see in the shot.

I would think the second is how it is intended to work. I could be wrong, since I don’t see the forums filled with questions about this it either means I am the only one who is interested in this or I have done something wrong to create this issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.

With us the [mailpoet_archive] only produces a list of dates – the links to the newsletters are missing.
Statmonkey, could you share your (code of your) archive widget and your workaround to display/link the newsletters?
Your links to the images are not working anymore…

    thanks,

    Hi Peter:

I am afraid I had no success in the end. I had the same results as you (well except occasionally it would produce a random link) and gave up on it. I am afraid that I resorted to the old html code in an ul and hard coding each newsletter in. It’s a bit of a pain considering I am sure these links are automatically generated but I can’t get mailpoet to provide them. Shame, otherwise a pretty nice plugin.

I happen to be looking at this just now. I really don’t understand why mailpoet doesn’t just provide an archive that you can review your old newsletters in. It is a royal pain to try to find a link to the newsletter and try to keep track of those links constantly. If there were an archive that all mailed went into it would be much easier.

    Hi everyone,

I find I am having the same problem, and it started yesterday when I did one thing–I edited newsletters I had already sent. See here:

    https://stbenedict.wcdsb.ca/about-us/benn-newsletter/

When I go to “view source” the A href tag is there, but the text that should appear on the screen does not do so.

I thought I’d try to “resend” the newsletter to a second list to see if that would do something but it wouldn’t let me (said it would be considered spam).

I wonder if any of you are encountering this problem after editing after sending?
