• Hi folks!

I want to setup a simple widget to show an inline sign up form. So I chose the “Custom HTML” widget to simply paste the HTML code for the created signup form (AWeber).

This is what I’m getting as information:

    Service Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.”

This is what I’ve done so far:

    1) I’ve talked to my hosting service. They adviced me to first delete the plugin Ninja Forms because this would cause the issue (I don’t see it though). And second, to install the latest backup; so I did.

    2) Neither deleting the plugin nor installing the latest backup had solved the issue.

    3) My webspace has far more capacity than I am using right now.

    What can I do?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

  • My thoughts?

Create the form and embed it into a page by itself just to see if it will embed and work.

If it does then cut and paste the exact same code into the html widget and see if it works there.

When troubleshooting you need to differentiate between where it works, where it don’t and the problem itself.

Temporary tests in temporary locations are a good idea in those cases.

It’s not a problem of getting the form to work.
It’s the problem of gettingthe form code saved.
WP wouldn’t save the form code in the Custom HTML wdget, it would only deliver this weird message.

Yeah, I get that but I’d want to know if the code itself will save in a more likely setting such as a page. If so then I’d know the issue was with saving that code in a widget.

Else, I’d know to check if I can save any kind of simple code to a widget or is there a problem with my widget systems themselves.

There are steps to troubleshooting that will reveal the problem if you’ll just ask the right questions in the right order.

Or you can subvert the methods and jump to conclusions that may or may not result in the proper repairs.

I have no idea what you have seen or tried on your end except for what you tell me. That’s why I ask for clarification.
